True Abundance Takes Perseverance

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

We Usually Start Out in a Nice Pasture

I started where a lot of people deciding on an abundant lifestyle start, in a comfortable life with a 9 to 5 job. This is the pasture where all the cows congregate eating the sweet grass and getting occasional oats or corn or hay when the farmer sees fit.

There is nothing dangerous in the pasture. There is nothing spectacular in the pasture. The farmer provides health care.

This abundance is distributed every Friday, and those in the pasture have a budget that accounts for this regular and predictable distribution. Many people are happy here because it's safe and predictable. This is abundance for them.

They know how they are going to pay their bills and they know when they are going to pay their bills. This is abundance for them. Many people stay in the pasture because they are afraid to leave. I hope they aren't laid off.

Sometimes There's a Break in the Fence

This happened for me when I first heard Robert Kyosaki on public TV. I was fascinated by his story of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. The idea was that you would never be rich or abundant as long as the government got paid first and your boss got paid second and you got paid last.

The idea that the entrepreneur pays himself first was the break in the fence for me. The fact that corporate taxes are much lower than the individual tax rate widened the break in the fence. Then Robert Kyosaki confessed that most successful business owners/entrepreneurs are only "C" students. This was a whole section of the fence falling down. -- If you could be the average kid in the class then almost anyone could do it.

Run Through the Break in the Fence into the Woods

Some others run through with you. The woods is not bad, although there's less grass and less sun. The first few days are rather pleasant in a new environment. There are singing birds and flowers to eat. But the woods becomes thicker and turns into a jungle. The briars tore at your coat, but the thickets and thorns in the jungle tear your hide.

There are jungle animals. Rhinoceros and big cats follow the scent of your blood and chase you. The easy life is over. This is your testing period. The Universe, the Creator is wondering if this is what you really want. Your hide is thickened with scars and you are more alert than ever before. Your survival depends on your being in the moment and aware of your surroundings. You eat less. You sleep less. You are becoming lean and fit for abundance. Many of those who ran through with you have returned to the pasture by now.

The Swamp Follows the Jungle

This is physically and mentally the hardest of all. You sink in the mud deep enough that every step is exhausting. The briars and bushes are almost impenetrable. Grasses tangle around your feet and it's hot. The water stinks and tastes terrible, but it's all you have. The sky above is gray and you pray that you aren't going in circles.

You've come so far now that you wonder if you could even find your way back. You've lost weight and don't want to run past the lions and tigers again. That was not fun. So you press on. Without a herd and without the sun, you are not sure of the best direction and have to depend on your instinct. You have just become a democracy of one. There is really no other way to do this. You just press on.

The Beach Follows the Swamp

One day, just when you are so tired you're not sure what you will do, your feet don't stick in the mud any longer. The clouds above start to part, showing some blue. You realize you are on firm ground and the water is clearing from its brackish quality to a blue-green. You see colorful fish swimming around your legs as you walk.

You walk out on to a beautiful white sand beach and there is a car parked near by. You go over to ask where you are, and the chauffeur jumps out with a towel and a bathrobe and a pitcher of cold, sweet water. He explains that he's been waiting for you as he helps you out of your yucky clothes into the clean and soft bathrobe.

This is all yours, and he is ready to take you to your mansion as soon as you give the word.

About Celtic Butterfly Tattoos

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

History or Celtic symbolism

Celtic tattoos adorn many bodies, even if most of them don't know the history of how Celtic designs came about, tattoos in the Celtic style are extremely popular and becoming more so each year. There is not a lot of written documentation about the Celts, their beliefs and symbols, what is known are mostly orally handed down as the ancient Celts had no written language. For this reason symbols were used to communicate the way they perceived, worshipped and gave thanks to the Gods, the world and the things around them. Celtic symbols today, as then, are still used to communicate emotion and symbolic meaning.

It wasn't really until their conversion to Christianity that the beauty of their symbols was used by Christian monks to illustrate books and scriptures of the day.

It is not certain whether or not the ancient Celts used their designs as tattoos. Today it is suggested that before adorning your body with an ancient Celtic symbol you try to find a tattoo artist who has at least some understanding of Celtic history.

The symbol of the butterfly

Apart from beautiful knot work which symbolize the cycles of life and death, love, friendship, family or spirituality, the Celts took animal symbolism very seriously and used these symbolic images in a host of creative ways either in carvings, jewelry or tattooed onto their bodies.

One symbol that speaks out from days gone by and lives only because of folklore handed down over time is the butterfly. Transformation, rebirth and inspiration are incorporated in the Celtic butterfly meaning. The concept of rebirth for the Celts was very important as it spoke of the recycling of life, spiritually and physically.

Celtic butterflies also speak of transition. The Celts, especially the women understood that transition is common in nature and used the butterfly symbol to adorn items relating to childbirth as a way of welcoming new babies into the clan or tribe. The Celts admired the energy of the transition this small creature had to go through to get from 'conception' to 'birth', and that also ties into perhaps the most powerful connotation attached to the butterfly and which we know of today thanks to myth and folk lore which is transformation. The Celts honored the butterfly because of the impressive process of metamorphosis it had to go through from egg to larvae to pupa and from the pupa or cocoon emerged the butterfly, breathtakingly beautify, in all its glory. Without this transformation, the butterfly would not exist.

Butterflies not only signify transition, rebirth and recycling but also resurrection, celebration, lightness, time and soul. True Celtic symbolism of this beautiful and dainty creature is the deep lesson it speaks of, the butterfly asks us to accept change while unquestioningly embracing the changes in her environment as well as in her body.

The butterfly asks that we accept metamorphosis as a symbol of faith, in other words, we need to keep our faith when we undergo transitions, she asks that we not fret and show anger at what is really a useless quest against the turning tides of nature and for this reason the Celts also associated the butterfly with their soul as we are all on a long journey of the soul, along the way we encounter turns and unpleasant conditions that cause us to 'morph' into ever better beings. At end of a soul journey, we are always changed and are not the same as we were before we started on the path.

The Celtic butterfly in the 21st century

Today, just as any century that has passed before offers its own trials and tests that require that we accept, change and transform and many look back at their personal soul journey with pride. Many people want to commemorate them and what better way to do this than with a tattoo.

A Celtic butterfly tattoo is possibly one of the most versatile, colorful and attractive tattoos that can easily stand alone while conveying its message or it can be incorporated in a larger tattoo that tells a longer story about the wearer. There are many designs available and while today the butterfly is revered as Celtic tattoo art for its beauty and diversity, the intricate design of a butterfly is what makes them so popular today.

Koi Fish and Ponds

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

Let's look at some information on Koi fish, in the beginning they can double their own size within the first month and can grow to thirty inches and up to thirty pounds. This is a bigger fish than a normal gold fish that people imagine when you say fish pond. They can range anywhere from 0 dollars to ,000 dollars depending on the quality you are looking for and what you intend to do with them. For example if you want to breed then you would want to buy a good female. If you wanted to show them in competition then you would want good coloring.

There are four factors involved if you are going into competition with koi fish and the painted colors they have are a huge consideration for both the show and the breeding. All this takes a healthy environment for the koi fish and you providing them the proper care. Just like any animal it either depends on the bloodline or genetics as to what the end result of coloring and size will be. So, if you were to start out then you would probably try to purchase a female. You are working to keep a chemical balance just as if you were maintain a swimming pool is how you will treat the pod. Water must be filtered and tested so you can provide chemically clean water so the fish has every chance to grow consistently and fast.

Water temperature is another concern, in the beginning you do want to keep it a little warmer so they can grow. Remember koi fish when they are young will eat more too. They will get use to the colder water in the winter months. Provide nutritional blocks for them to eat, since they are vegetarians include dark green leafy vegetables. Maintain variety, nutrient content and frequency and they will thrive and be happy. Koi fish need room so allow them to have a deep mud pond so they can exercise. If you get them when they are small you will be amazed at how quick they do grow in the right temperatures, with the right food and space to swim. They are beautiful to watch as you are relaxing by the pond.

Rabbits Find Lost Roman Villas

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

I recently visited a restored Roman Villa at Chedsworth, England in the Cotswold hills. They had some very beautiful mosaic floors on show, which were still largely intact, within the villa's restored bath houses and dining rooms. These mosaic panels, dating back from between the 2nd and 4th centuries AD, were of great interest to me. The villa itself was made up of a rather large group of adjoining rooms, laid out in an extended three sided horseshoe shape. I was amazed at the size of this ancient farm or ranch, and the extent of its facilities, which included a running water toilet suite, with seating for several individuals and two extensive and opulent bath houses. The villa also boasted a private temple or chapel, with a pool fed by a spring. The temple was dedicated to the local water goddess. Less well preserved, were the remains of extensive colonnades for elegant porticos that once ran along the sides of the building. However the crowning glory was the indubitably the spacious dining hall, with its beautiful mosaic floor, which had the added luxury of under floor heating. To me, the overwhelming impression was that this villa seemed to be more of a comfortable holiday resort, designed for leisure, rather than a working farm.

I was told that in Britain and other European countries, burrowing rabbits and other animals are often responsible, for the discovery of long buried villas and other buildings from the Roman era. These little animals, whilst scratching down to make their burrows, bring up loose tesserae blocks, from buried mosaic floors and spread them around at the surface. These small multi-coloured stone blocks or tiles were probably first loosened up from the original mosaic floors by frost, shortly after the buildings were abandoned, many centuries ago. However once they had been brought to the surface by the rabbits, they have provided clues, to those in the know, that have led to the finding of the ancient remains of several buildings. Chedworth villa, itself, was discovered by two men who were trying to retrieve a ferret, while rabbit hunting in the late nineteenth century.

What amazed me about the floors at Chedworth Villa, was how professionally the mosaic work had been done. After all, Britain was a very remote and fairly poor part of the empire in this period and Chedworth itself was not near any big city or town. However, the owners of the estate must have been very wealthy to have had not one, but two, good sized bath suites with their mosaic decorated steam rooms, dry heat saunas and hot and cold plunge pools and also to have had the wonderful under floor heating system below the dining and living rooms. These facilities must have been treasures indeed in a cold British winter. But what a degree of sophistication to find so far off the beaten track! I'm sure that the mosaic artists must have been imported from overseas - the work was just too professional for a frontier province!

I have always been fascinated by the legacy that Rome has left us and I have to confess that my interest in mosaics as an art form has largely been inspired by the extraordinary richness of the Roman art that this medium has preserved so well. It provides color and sense of the continuance of life that the often grey record of centuries of history sometimes misses. Mosaic art is an open window into a world long past. It gives us a glimpse into a refined and leisurely lifestyle that was far removed from the gore of the gladiator's arena and all the pomp and splendor of Rome's military might. I have seen magnificent 2000 year old mosaics in the British Museum and around Rome, at places such as Ostia, at Caracalla's baths, and in the Vatican. These pieces are no mere architectural decoration, but have been great works of art in their own right. Moreover, they all look as though they were laid out just yesterday.

Mosaics are made to last - the ones we see today have outlasted kingdoms and empires. So any aspiring mosaic artists had better be sure that their work is up to scratch, and of the highest standard, because the most severe critic of their work might only be born around the year 4009. Maybe there will still be some wild rabbits left by then!

Dog Problems - Here Are Some Dog Training Tips to Help You Out With Your Pet Dog

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

We all know as pet owners that having a dog requires that you walk them daily, but this is not just a chore of having a pet, its actually an activity that is both good for the dog and the owner.

People and dogs alike need to exercise daily in order to be healthy. Even if you have some room around your back yard area to move around in, its still a good idea to bring your dog out for a walk because it is good exercise for the two of you, and it will keep your dog from becoming restless and feeling ignored.

Its also a good time to bond with your pet. Studies have shown that people who walk their dogs daily have a much better relationship with their animals and their animals are usually more well behaved then those who do not get their daily walks.

Just think of how excited your dog gets every time you take him or her out for a walk with you. They are generally very happy about this activity, and will want to praise you all the more as their owners.

So, how does walking your dog involve basic training? First and foremost, you establish your alpha role when you take your dog out for a walk, so he or she knows that you are the pack leader. Also, you can begin to use basic commands like sit, come, stay an fetch. This form of training is considered to be play for your dog so by doing these basic trainings on your walks your animal is more likely to behave more around the home.

And getting your dog accustomed to wearing a leash is the number one task for all new dog owners. By training your dog to be on a leash you don't have to worry about taking him or her to public places or to the vet office because you have taught them how to be more restrained by being on a leash.

As funny as this may sound, training your dog on a basic walk actually improves their social skills. When a dog is taken out of his or her home environment into a social setting, they develop good skills for being with other people and dogs in public. This is vitally important when it comes to your pets behavior because it trains your animal to be less aggressive in public.

Finally, it helps your dog avoid depression. Why? Its simple. Taking your dog on regular walks and giving them basic training will prevent them from getting anxious and depressed around the house. They will not only be using their muscles but their senses and minds as well on your walks, so doing this really will help your animal remain enlivened, alert and happy.

So now that you know that by taking your dog on regular walks you are actually beginning a very healthy cycle of training for both yourself and your pet, get out your leash every day and take your dog for a good walk. They will love it, and you will have a better relationship with your pet.

How To Be Truly Greedy Without Appearing So

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

AT HOME, ALWAYS SERVE YOURSELF LAST - that way it's easier to surreptitiously slide an extra goose-fat roasted Maris Piper under your pheasant breast. The utterly shameless might deliberately 'forget' the pork belly crackling and bring it out separately when other guests are already busily tucking in and appear to divvy it up fairly.

OF COURSE IT IS ESSENTIAL and absolutely acceptable among fellow Foodies to insist guests start straight away as no-one wants half-cold culinary pleasures.

WHEN ANGLING FOR SECONDS, even if other guests are feigning fullness, comment fulsomely on how difficult it is to find samphire these days, how clever to think of matching zander with star anise, or how wonderful it is to enjoy caramelised quince at the height of its short season. Flattery will get you a fuller stomach! Or play the Foodie fanatic: whilst complimenting the dish, mutter something about not being quite sure you detect the Chinese five-spice powder/yuzu (a tiny yellow Japanese citrus fruit with a limey zing). Your host should be flattered into offering you more, without you appearing to be soliciting for seconds.

WHEN AT A DINNER PARTY AND THE CHEESE APPEARS, simply engage everyone in riveting, preferably non-cheese focused conversation, slyly make cheese in-roads every time you gesticulate a point. Note however: it is likely that other guests may adopt similar tactics with their favoured cheese.

THOUGH THE CURRENT FASHION FOR SHARING MENUS might appear the solution, beware: portions are almost invariably too stingy for truly greedy sharing.

WHEN DINING OUT, DELIBERATE AND AGONISE OVER THE MENU to such an extent that your companions feel duty bound to plump for your also-ran choices - having established, of course, that it's strictly a sharing meal. Then inquire solicitously and effusively after everyone else's dishes and stick your fork in... but make sure you've practically finished your own scrupulously selected dish first.

WHEN YOU END UP SHARING, DON'T PLAY COMPLETELY FAIR. A well-timed bon mot along the lines of "I can't quite get how the tamarind fits into this dish and I really want to try it at home" works a treat. Or be more blatant: "I've never tried this before (however unlikely that may be), it's so extraordinary. I simply can't resist just one more taste..."

WHEN FACED WITH AN IRRESISTIBLE CHEESEBOARD of oozing and pungent delights, ask so many impressively technical questions about raw milk, wheys and washed rinds that the self-styled cheese sommelier will warm to the theme. Delighted to expound to a fellow aficionado, you'll soon find samples of almost everything turning up on your plate.

ARRIVE AT FARMERS' MARKETS READY ARMED with your own supply of plastic spoons to facilitate sampling and avoid the worst of the unseemly scrum. When you find a particularly choice recherché ingredient, engage the producer in informed, animated, ego-massaging chat, whilst you politely and repeatedly investigate the wagyu beef carpaccio.

RELIEVE YOUR FRANTICALLY FROTHING WANNABE-ESPUMA-HOST and offer to serve out the Seville orange and ricotta tart, omitting to mention that pie charts were a bit of a weakness at school - the perfect excuse for helping yourself to an unfairly large slice of the cake.

ALWAYS OFFER TO HELP CLEAR THE PLATES. It's not really shameful to swipe that forlorn last mouthful of salsa verde (pungent anchovy, capers and herb) dextrously with your little finger, or rescue a stray fraise de boise (a tiny wild strawberry of delirious intensity) that a fellow guest has inexplicably left on the plate. There is also a chance of choice pickings... perhaps the crispy rare-breed bacon, which has served its purpose embracing the mallard breast, swiped straight from the roasting tray... or a surreptitious teaspoon dipped in the scrapings of a glossy mustard sauce which didn't quite make it to the table.

Nokia 3310 Mobile Phone Review-Handset Features

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

Despite being launched in 1999, the Nokia 3310 is still a popular user friendly mobile phone. It carries all the basic functions, but with no Bluetooth, Camera or Video features it is relatively basic compared to other phones on the market.

The Nokia 3310 cannot compare with modern phones due to the lack of features, and it is also criticised by the consumer for its low battery life and looking dated or unfashionable. Despite being praised for being durable, the one weak spot that the 3310 does have is the screen, with many people reporting how easily it breaks when knocked or dropped and costing as much as £15.00 to replace when necessary.

On the positive side the Nokia 3310 is cheap in price, more durable than a flip phone, has a slimline shape that makes it easy to carry, is praised for its simplicity and reliability and is an ideal purchase for the teenager or a first time buyer

The "simplicity" of the phone that consumers often talk about, comes from the fact that it is very easy to add a new contact into the address book, making a call is simple and the reception is reported to be crystal clear (depending on area and network) with the capability to increase the volume to a suitable level; and with a well laid out keypad texting is also easy.

The phone comes with many pre-set ringtones, has the facility for you to create your own and the sound quality is good; there are also 4 games to keep you amused and your 3310 can be given a new look with interchangeable covers. Other features include: a calendar, stopwatch, a reminder, calculator and alarm clock, which you will probably find useful from time to time.

The 3310 does exactly what is required of a basic mobile phone. It allows you to make calls and send texts with ease and is the ideal phone for someone who is not looking for modern features such as a colour screen, bluetooth or camera. It is therefore ideal for someone that does not get on well with new technology, as well as the younger teenager who may be a little heavy handed and therefore requires a more durable phone. Also, due to the lack of modern technology the Nokia 3310 would not cost the earth to replace if it was stolen or your teenage son/daughter misplaced it.

Features of the Nokia 3310 include:

Predictive text messaging,

35 ringtones plus ringtone composer plus customisable ringtones,

Voice activated dialling,

Data capability,

Downloadable games,

Animated screen savers,

Changeable front and back covers,

Size: 113 x 48 x 22 mm

Weight: 133g

Battery standby: 55 - 260 hours

Battery talktime: 2.5 - 4.5 hours

Vibration alert

Dual band

Turning Your Child's Room into a Mysterious Jungle

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

(When designing a child's room, you want to create an atmosphere that inspires and stimulates them mentally. The room should be interesting to the child, and should reinforce both rational thinking, and creativity. One way to achieve this goal is with a fun science based theme, which will present a topic in the natural world in an exciting manner.)

The jungle is a dark and mysterious place, full of dense shrubs, towering trees, and shadows within which any number of strange animals could be lurking. It is a place of predators and prey. It is a place of exciting adventure. It is also a place that is full of the opportunity for learning more about animals, plants, and nature in general. If you present it in the right way, a jungle-themed child's room can be an engaging, inspiring project that may encourage them to develop a long term love of learning and nature.

When preparing to develop a jungle themed décor, the first thing you should do is research. Get as many books as you can on the various animals and plants that live in the jungle. Encyclopedias and websites can provide good background knowledge, while books and magazines will give you more specific facts. Make copies of any pictures that inspire you, and take notes on anything that you and your child find interesting.

When you are ready to start applying your research to decorating the area, you will want to begin by building the jungle's vegetation. Buy large pieces of construction paper in as many shades of green and brown as you can. Lay the paper out on the floor or a large table, and trace the various plants you learned about in your research onto the paper. If you know the name of the plant, or anything about it, write this on the back of the tracing. Carefully cut out the shapes that you created using either scissors or an exact-o knife. Always be very careful when involving sharp tools in any project that you undertake with your child. When the plants have been cut out you can use double sided scotch tape to adhere them to the walls. Thumbtacks can also be used, but be careful using them around any child for whom they may become a choking hazard. Start with just a few trees and plants, and add more until you feel that your jungle is dense enough.

Another method you can use for creating plants is to create stencils of the many different shapes that you want, and then trace them onto your walls with paint or colored pencils. This will give the room more of a finished look, and will almost certainly be more attractive than cut-out designs. The drawback to this method is that it is much more permanent than construction paper and removing the stenciled drawing when you are ready for a new look will be more difficult.

To create the look of hanging vines, dip pieces of rope into green paint and wait for them to dry. Then string them from ceiling to wall across the room. Be careful that the rope is out of the reach of the child, and doesn't present a strangulation hazard in any way. Small monkey figurines can be hung from the rope to give it added effect.

3D plants will solidify the illusion you are creating. To create a vegetation model, buy plastic plant pots and attach long cardboard tubes, upright, to the bottom of them using tape. These tubes can be found in the center of most rolls of wrapping paper. Use construction paper to create the leaves and the branches of your plant, then cut them out and attach them to the top of the tube. If you find that the construction paper is too weak to create a solid branch, try placing two pieces of construction paper around a piece of cardboard to provide support.

An even better way to create a full jungle look is to bring in real plants. This should be done cautiously and with full consideration that a child can harm or damage a plant if they are not aware of the responsibility of having a living thing in their room. Before adding plants to the area, discuss with the child all of the implications that the plant will have. It is a life, in their room, and they are responsible for guarding the plant against harm, from themselves and others. If you feel the child is ready, you should move only one or two plants in at a time. Give the child some of the responsibility for watering their plants, and carefully monitor its health. If the youngster proves that they can handle having a living entity in their room, you can continue to add to their plant collection.

Once you have your vegetation in place, you can start to populate it with the many strange animals that live in a jungle. Using the construction paper cut out method you used to create the wall plants, draw and cut out some of the animals that you researched. When placing them on the wall, situate them slightly behind some of the leaves and branches of the plants that are already there in order to better incorporate them into the scene.

Expand on your flat animals using stuffed animals and statues. Animal toys and figurines can be arranged in action poses against the plant background. Stuffed animals can be scattered around the room, hidden behind dressers or with faces poking out of the shadows of the closet. Using items such as these makes the room more interactive, and turns the whole setting into a toy.

A simple finishing touch is to make a recording, with your child, of the various animal noises that you would hear in a jungle. Watching National Geographic and episodes of various other nature specials can give you an idea of what a jungle would sound like. You will want the recording to be at least five minutes long in order to be effective.

As you place the different elements in the room, write technical information that you researched on the back and underside of the items. That way, when it is time to change the theme, you and the child can revisit many of the facts that you learned while building the decorations. Compliment the child on any facts that they remembered, and go over the information to freshen it in their heads.

Working with your child to develop a themed room offers many chances for meaningful interaction with them. Use this experience as a way to get to know them better. Ask them questions; find out what they like, and how their minds work. As you develop the look and feel of the room, you will also be developing and deepening your relationship with the child.

Children should not try any of these ideas out themselves without the consent and supervision of an adult. Caution should always be used in any activity that involves a child. Make certain that none of your decorative efforts puts your child in danger in any way.

After We Have Squandered Our Fossil Fuel Treasure, Our Way of Living Will Be Very Different

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

In a mere fifty years time, the kind of living that we have now will be vastly different whether we like it or not. Whilst most planners plan for what they regard as a better future using exponentially more energy, practically no planners plan for a future using a person's share of the amount of solar energy that falls on a person's share of the Earth

Another reality on which the growth-supporting planners fail to recognise, is that the most efficient converter of solar energy to fuel is chlorophyll - especially in grasses, and the most efficient converter of grass into usable energy is animal muscle.

Without the massive amounts of energy we take for granted will always be there, cities of more than a million people cannot possibly exist. And if you believe, as I do, that we should also care for every living and non-living beautiful and wild aspect of this tiny planet if, and if you believe that they all deserve a place on this planet, then the human population must be significantly reduced, not increased. I believe that every aspect of this tiny planet deserves the care that only we humans can provide, which means that we should planning to reduce the human population to a sustainable 500,000,000 humans! Even if this premise is not accepted, planners should be debating and planning for all contingencies - this one too - just in case.

After we have squandered all of our fossil fuels by about 2060, the Sun, chlorophyll and muscle, will be the portable energy and engines we will have to use sparingly and wisely. And soon after our metal machines and tools have worn out or oxidised to dust, the basic materials of wood and rock will be the only available materials for tools and for harnessing our energy sources.

The trouble with short-sighted and unethical planners

Many of today's planners accept the philosophy that given infinite resources and time, if something can be described, it will eventually be invented, and so plan in the expectation that by the time their schemes are put into effect, other problems that the scheme ignores will be solved by somebody else. This is a dangerous premise, because it presumes that known absolute and practical limitations can be ignored.

Such is the case of energy. All planners plan in the expectation that when fossil fuels are exhausted somebody will have found new energy sources, or have been able to "capture" and use solar energy.

It also presumes that the captured heat will have no Global Warming effect because the heat will be re-radiated at night. But the very act of capturing heat for warming insulated houses is preventing re-radiation, and the more people who attain our kind of warm housing in cool climates, the more heat must be retained and further Global Warming must occur. Compared with total solar radiation, such heat retention is minuscule, but it is perilously cumulative.

Planning should be based on known, absolute and practical limitations, combined with practical and realistic expectations. Fine to aspire to the ultimate luxury of the imagination, but not to nihilistically dismiss the probable or possible consequences as it being somebody else's problem.

Those who commission plans have a duty to commission a range of possible scenarios for a better future, not dump on us one 'take it, or we'll give it to you anyway' plan. Even if I am wrong about when we will run out of fossil fuels, planners should be planning NOW for a society with a good, sophisticated quality of life without the prodigious amounts of energy we use. If we did this, future generations could continue with the best attributes of a sophisticated society. If we don't, extinction of society as we know it, is probable. Are we not able to plan for a positive vision without fossil fuels? The Amish do.

The Earth already has far too many people

Scientists have been warning about the dire consequences of overpopulation for logical, responsible, environmental, humane and social reasons.

A most crucial problem that is not being addressed is that third-World families need many children because many of them die from accident, disease, starvation, and genocide, and to care for the parents in their old-age. So these people need many children to maintain a stable, two surviving children population. However, Western doctors save the people from disease, feed them in times of drought and disaster and protect them from genocidal wars, taking away the population regulators and not replacing them with real birth control. As well, many groups use the surplus people as their own armies to acquire wealth and power.

On the other hand, our Western societies have eliminated those five necessities for having large families, and socially responsible nations normally maintain a two-children style of sustainable population.

Aims for maintaining sustainable populations in third-World countries are being compromised by schemes to accommodate the exponentially growing amount of displaced people. For instance, to save excess people from overpopulated countries that refuse to maintain a sustainable population, our politicians devise schemes to bring them to Australia to live like we energy-gobblers in our style of energy-gobbling homes. That is the wrong way around. Excess people normally come from communities that have the kind of sustainable living that we fuel-squandering Western societies should be practising ourselves If any population of animals or plants exceed their sustainability, the excess die or are killed. By eliminating the population regulators within third-world countries and not replacing them with any other means of population control, we are surely killing all of us.

The push for overpopulation is mainly from selfish people who profit from it - they manipulate our culture and emotions, and ask us to provide "humanitarian" succor and use unselfish, caring people to implement their self interest.

The main reason why overpopulation is so well embraced is that businessmen, religious sects and immigration implementers profit from overpopulation, and blithely proclaim "The consequences of overpopulation's not our problem - let scientists or future generations fix it!"

Seizing on such opportunities for a quick dollar, compliant planners plan using unproven and unrealistic premises, proclaiming that they know that it is a problem, but it will fix itself when the World population reaches twelve or twenty billion people or some other figure they pluck without any serious rational.

How many people can Australia sustainably cope with?

To counter this onslaught of "Big Australia" propaganda, we must demand that our Government seek verifiable evidence about Australia's population limits.

To seek public opinion about how many immigrants the public decide is enough, authorities normally put on a pretense of 'Consultation' with the public. However, in fact, they discuss only ONE detailed plan, whose implementation, costings, tenderers, public spin and false propaganda have already been decided. Independent expertise and the public opinion is rarely ever given real regard. And, whilst the public cannot or will not tell you what they would accept, they can tell you what they don't want. If they are given the choice between real alternatives, they normally make good choices. On the other hand, if the Government was serious about finding out how many immigrants their constituents wanted, they would present alternative models and explain their pros and cons to allow the public to make informed choices*.

Normally, I am aghast at government plans and cry out for the government to consult the independent universities and institutions. But even in universities there are population-growth-supporters. Fortunately they are in the minority, if they weren't, we would be in real trouble, there would be good reason for pessimism.

"Big Australia" may be profitable for the incumbent political party and a few vested interests, but it is a perilous problem for most Australians.

The malevolent alliance between Parliament and business about population issues has many benefits for Parliament. It saves Parliament the effort of governing, it brings in much revenue, the government is very well rewarded and protected by its businessmen sponsors, and the task of governance is conveniently done by big business at no cost or effort by Parliament. Normally a small coterie of bureaucratic 'advisors' to government, simply relay the selective data supplied by Big Business. They feed Parliament with the spin of "bigger is better"- develop at any cost. The saved money can be then used for re-election campaigns. Try to govern without us businessmen and see how far you get?

The vested interests certainly make the task of researching data very easy for compliant public service advisors- who get "looked after" in many ways by the businessmen. We allow the government plan for our own demise! What a lot of lotus eaters we allow our politicians to become.

Fifty years is little time left to plan for living without electricity or any the other energy sources we take for granted.

There is an imperative need to plan for an alternative way of living that will protect our tiny planet. It is the obligation of academic planners to demand that the Government and the modern emperors of commerce to change their thinking and have them rethink the value of our resources to avoid the certain oblivion for all of us, and every other living creature including the businessmen themselves. If we don't, we have at the most another 600 months before worldwide catastrophe.

Not long, is it?

Without fuel for transport a city cannot contain more than a million people because its population limit depends on the walking distance between where somebody lives and where their food is produced.

In 1800, London was the most populous city in the World. It had grown to the maximum possible population of one million people. No city could grow bigger than one million because people had to live near to where their food was produced. To transport food further would have cost more fuel (which is of course is food) than there was energy in the food that was being transported. Then Mr Stephenson opened the Pandora's Box of fossil-fuel energy, and Mr Watt invented steam trains. Then, food and the very fuel for the transport (coal) could be got from farms and mines far from the city and transported into the city using fossil fuel. So London was able to grow to well over a million people. And ever cheaper transport allowed machines to be made in factories to extract the coal that allowed the machines to be made that would more-easily extract the fossil fuel. With fossil-fuelled transport spreading around the world, other cities followed and cities of multi-millions of people happened. Then they discovered oil which was easily extracted and more portable, and so it seemed there was no end to the size that cities could grow.

Inventions blossomed, and the mantra became that if you could describe it, somebody would inevitably invent it. Challenges to the Western style of unlimited "growth", limits were and are, for most people, unthinkable.

I challenge that premise because if one looks at history of all the epochs from Rameses to Caesar, from Elizabeth 1 to John Kennedy, popular planners also planned on the premise that their style of living would continue forever, and the only alternative was unthinkable. Where were the wise people who would advise the rulers of the day that the good times they were having would surely end? Where is Paul Ehrlich, what have they done to him?

Shoot the messenger, reward the carpet bagger

Governments never accept advice to take needed action if they thought that they couldn't sell the needed action, even if not taking action would result in catastrophe.

Complete changes to the way we live and our attitudes to sustainability are crucial for mankind to survive the next fifty years. Most governments do not have the wit or communications tools to present a better, simpler and more cultured society. That is because most Western governments leave the governance of the way live to the very people who are creating the problem - the business world! But it is the price we must pay, if we want to survive.

Each epoch has had resources that they thought would go on forever and that was considered to be the proper and progressive order for society. Rameses had religion and slaves, Caesar had tyrannical government and slaves, Elizabeth had law, organisation and commerce, and America had communications and abundant fossil fuels - coal, oil and uranium.

Abundant energy is our mighty servant who provides us such a luxurious lifestyle, but but soon he will be exhausted.

Ours is the energy epoch where our planners also plan with the premise that we will forever have abundant fuels and the consequential communications. They presume that even if fossil fuels become exhausted in some far distant time, by then we will have found new energy sources. Such premises are as flimsy as the premises of Rameses and Caesar. Then the wise people were pilloried as doomsday heretics. So when the end of the era came, the rulers and the people lost everything.

Our present lifestyle depends mainly on two elements, metals and plastics, and both of them depend on fossil energy. The start of civilisation coincided with the bronze age, where copper and tin that were at the surface were melted using wood or coal which was also at the surface. Later other minerals were found that created more effective tools and machines, but that required high melting temperatures, which in turn required digging for fuels and minerals from ever greater depths. These new metals and the new range of tools and machines determined the way in which villages and cities developed and grew. In turn, the new tools and machines allowed people to mine even deeper to retrieve oil and minerals, even to tap geo-thermal energy.

Indeed the machines that foreign companies have bought to Australia can remove as much coal or iron ore in one day from one mine, as every mine in the World used to extract in a whole year. That fact alone and its obvious consequences should frighten every Australian, but we are so comfortable with our lifestyle that we don't want to think too much about it, we prefer to believe the spin doctors of the people who are being enriched by our system.

There is no credible evidence that the most important portable energy source - oil - will be available after 2020, and that's only ten years away. Sure, there will always be oil in the ground and under the sea beds, but when it reaches the energy-equation barrier, that is, when it takes more energy to extract the oil than you can get usable energy from the extracted oil, so it must be left there.

Coal and uranium will suffer the same energy-equation barrier, and Australia's abundant amounts of these easily extracted fuels will soon be gobbled up cheaply by overseas businesses to finance Australians revelling in an unsustainable bath of energy wastage - until it has run out by about 2060. Some vested interests from energy companies or their subsidised academics in purchasable universities have estimated that we have another two hundred years of fossil fuel left. Their evidence for this is palpably optimistic. They are trying to sell a fools' paradise. The Western World consumes most of all the energy sources but China and India are rapidly attaining standard-of-living parity. That would at least halve the run-out dates. So it would be prudent to plan for an earlier run-out date.

Whichever date you believe, planners have an obligation to plan for alternative contingencies. In any case, Australia will eventually be left with a lot of holes in the ground in a mainly desert country that is incapable of maintaining a population of twenty million, let alone thirty. And the overseas companies will inevitably return to their home countries when the plunder is over.

What is so precious about human life?

Question: Isn't saving every human life a moral obligation for we privileged Western societies?

Answer: What is so precious about human life? There is an even greater moral obligation to save our small planet, humanity itself and every other living species!

What the planners are planning for Australia in 2060 will result in a desert with many big holes

Planners will tell you that a probable fuel-less desert for Australia is "not our problem", because the absence of fuels is not part of our brief, and we can only get funding to develop plans according to our brief which predicts endless energy for the foreseeable future.

Another problem is that politicians will never commission planners to devise plans for them unless they know that the planners will predict an easier, more comfortable and secure lifestyle that they can easily sell to their constituents. So although planners may want to plan for an energy and metal-free quality lifestyle - who will fund such reality? Dick Smith?

Wisdom is in an uneven battle with greed and lazy parliamentarians.

In a recent clip of the greatest environmental visionary of our epoch, Dr Paul Ehrlich, it showed him working away on an old computer in a modest room by himself. To counter Ehrlich's kind of wisdom and need for meagre resources, the energy emperors have virtually unlimited money, a veritable army of spin doctors and publishing house of propaganda mechanics to sell their produce for quick profit. What little chance do people like Ehrlich and truth stand?

The myth of "Clean" energies

Other energy-crisis deniers maintain that, after fossil fuels are exhausted, the so-called "natural" energy sources such as wind, solar panels, mirror solar collection, space sails, geo-thermal, wave, tidal, hydro, hydrogen and so on will then be "harnessed" to perpetuate our life-style. The illogicality of this premise is that all of the energy-gathering devices for capturing and converting the "natural" energies to usable energy and transmitting these energies, are dependent on massive amounts of the products of fossil energy.

Modern windmills and wave harnessing machines are made of plastic and steel and only last twenty years, solar panels are made of glass and plastic and also have a useful life of about twenty years, mirror solar collectors can last about 50 years, but they are normally situated far from where energy is needed and the getting of energy from where it is generated to where it is needed is not economical. Geo-thermal has problems such as mineralisation of pipelines and the cooling of the hot spot from whence the heat is drawn, which can cause seismic pressure buildup and again they present transmission problems. Tidal power and hydro power depend on building weirs and turbines built and maintained using vast amounts of fossil fuels and they vastly change the ecology and sedimentation of the area.

When coal and oil are exhausted, satellites and the promise of energy-gathering sails in space will be impossible without the massive amounts of fuel and high-tech equipment needed.

Fusion energy. The dreamers' dream of endless energy.

All generating and transmission mechanisms must eventually decay and disintegrate. And if you are thinking nuclear fusion energy, consider this - scientists have been trying to obtain useable energy from nuclear fusion for sixty years but despite virtually unlimited resources, nobody has done it. No learned body believes it will ever likely to be achieved because nobody believes that the temperature necessary to achieve fusion, that is 5800k, is possible to be contained let alone harnessed on Earth.

All of the available "natural" energy sources could not possibly supply even a fraction of that to which our present lifestyle is accustomed, and for an increased population the proposition is palpably ludicrous. When the end of fossil fuels happens in 2060, there will be a return to renewable material machines like wooden waterwheels, Dutch-style windmills, Amish-style horse driven transport and wooden sail ships, because we will be without metals and electric power.

Is a lifestyle as sophisticated as people like the Amish have not a better quality than ours? Do they not enjoy themselves as much or more than we do? We should study and learn from such good and cultured people's lifestyles.

Energy availability is inextricably linked to the problem of the population explosion, and all people wanting, demanding or seizing their share of fossil energy. The planners are not planning for those scenarios! They say it's not their problem, because it's not their brief, and it's not their responsibility to stand up and trumpet if and when they see that the end of our way of life is about to happen.

The richest, most powerful governments on Earth are the energy companies. OPEC for one, is far more powerful and influential than the United States or the EEC, and they are not obligated to any morality or electorate. Their product is energy, and challenges from people who voice rational concerns about their product are met a hundred times over by refutations, not from them, but from their compliant minions and scientists who drown out dissent. The energy companies offer an endless life of luxurious worldly riches using endless supplies of energy.

As I have said, each epoch's planners planned on the premise that an alternative kind of living to theirs was intolerable and unthinkable. As history has shown, they were wrong and failed to plan for the ends of the era with tragic consequences. If we ignore the lessons of the past, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. But this time, nuclear fusion may well be the ultimate energy source to quickly not only implement the mistakes but to end everything and all the wealth of learnings humanity has amassed.

House Training Is Easy When You Help Them Learn

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

There are theories, trial and error and just good fortune in the dog you get, but House Training can be a prime source of anxiety for many a new puppy owner. A puppy not taught properly becomes an adult who doesn't know. There are far too many adult dogs that have never learned how to control and eliminate outside. This process can be used with any dog at any age!
To effectively create a clean environment, new owners have to be both dedicated and consistent to the process of teaching a young puppy where and when to go.
The more repetition that is added to the process, the faster the pup will learn what you are looking for and be able to fulfill your wishes.
What is House Training? The process is helping the puppy learn where to go, as well, as develop the physical controls which enable them to hold until they can go out. Many think it is just teaching a young pup not to eliminate in the house. This is the end result but not the full picture for the dog. Learning and developing control has many benefits.
Utilizing a time Frame strategy, getting them outside helps them to develop bladder and bowl control, keeping scents from being left in the home. Once their scent is in the house, they look to go back to the same location time after time. These scent factors compel some dogs to keep going in the house. The Time Frame makes it is easier for owners to get a pups timing of when to go more effectively connected to normal daily schedule and life style. One other and less looked part of teaching your dog to go out side is for those who plan on traveling. A dog who does not understand to look outside for a potty runs or to go in those specific times, will most likely have difficulty doing so when in another environment such as on a trip or visiting friends.
Let's look first at some of the circumstances which make House Training difficult.

o Puppies from Pet Stores. These pups have spent a few weeks to a few months able to eliminate at will and to do so in the crate. Although they can still be taught, you are now working against a learned behavior.

o Breeders who do not keep clean living spaces. Breeders offer a valuable resource in starting your puppy off right. The cleaner the litters living area, the more likely the pup will be to avoid dirty spaces. Good breeders start to teach outside habits from day one with frequent cleaning, offering dry clean whelping pens and beginning the outside habits by 4 weeks. Long before you pick a pup, a good breeder has already made your training process easier.

o Not utilizing a crate properly. The crate is your most valuable tool in House Training. Time framing, separation of areas, developing physical control and clarity for the pup can only happen with the use of a crate. The crate speeds up the process. It offers the pup an opportunity to learn effectively and clearly what you want and prevents those opportunities which allow the pup to go in the house.

o Following through the process. It is important to follow through. Trying too many things at one time, not giving a process time to work will only confuse your dog. So realize that the more consistent you are, the more effectively the dog will learn.

o Breaking the time frames. A puppy can only learn what it is taught. Keeping to a schedule is the most advantageous and easiest for the pup to understand.

Let's get started!

What are the prime times for a puppy to go?

o After they eat/drink

o Waking up

o During play

Here is what you need to get started:

o Paper and pen - write down all bathroom times as a foundation for time framing.

o Crate - proper sized crate should just be large enough for them to stand up, turn around and lay down in comfortably. A condo sized crate allows them too much room to roam; they end up going in the crate and move away to a dry area.

o Proper crate location- easy access to the outside is necessary. The longer it takes to get out, the more likely to pup will not make it.

o Selected potty area - this is where they go. Being in this space means potty time. Use simple garden fencing to mark off areas. The space does not need to be huge, maybe a 4x6 foot outside space.

o Leash and collar - to keep the pup relegated to one area and one task. You need to see the puppy go to know what to do after.

o timer - alerts you to potty times

o Baby gates - keeps the pup in regulated areas for free time.

Remember our goal is to teach the puppy, offer repetition of behaviors, remove options of where to go and create sanity for you.

Step 1: You need to know how your puppies system functions.

o Write down every time the pup goes to the bathroom. This includes inside the house/crate and outside. Spend about a week in doing this to get an as clear and accurate time frame of your puppy's habits and physical functions.

o Make this information into a time chart. The time chart should be simple and indicate the times and what the puppy does. Ex. 6 Am pee and poops; 8 Am-pees; 11AM -pee and poop; 1:30- pee and so on.

o The time chart becomes your working format of potty runs, crate time and free time in the house.

Step 2:

o Put your chart some place everyone can see. All are involved with the process, so information should be easy access.

o Start with the pup in crate.

o First outside run in the morning, put your puppy on leash and collar before leaving the crate. If really young, just pick up and carry out!

o Take them to the door with a potty call such as: "Let's go potty"

o Go outside with them on leash and collar to a specific potty area. Important you do not play or make this an excitement time. Simply stand basically in the same area, letting the pup sniff for that favorite spot.

o Repeat a chant: "let's go potty" or what every fits nicely for you.

o Give your pup 15 minutes to go to the bathroom.

o If the puppy goes, they get 20-30 minutes free time in a regulated location such as the kitchen.

The Most Comprehensive Manager - Responsibilities of the Recreation Director in Long Term Care

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,

William Shakespeare
All the world's a stage (from As You Like It 2/7)

Many activity professionals enter the field of therapeutic activities and recreation to enhance the quality of life and functional status of the individuals they serve. Most activity assistants, aides, coordinators, and therapists spend the majority of the day hands-on with the residents, facilitating one to one and group activities. The interaction between activity professionals and residents is beneficial to both parties. The residents are engaging in meaningful, therapeutic activities that greatly enhances their quality of life and overall functional status. Recreational activities often provide opportunities for self-expression, independence, decision making, coping skills, solace, socialization, improved emotional well-being, self-esteem, a sense of purpose, enhanced physical status, and much more. The activity or recreational professional finds great satisfaction and joy in knowing that they are an instrumental part in enhancing the lives of those they serve. In addition, leisure professionals learn a great deal of knowledge in regards to history, ways of life, culture, social graces, religious beliefs, traditions, and valuable life lessons.

When a person first enters the field of therapeutic activities and recreation, they have to obtain a variety of leisure skills and knowledge ranging from arts and crafts, music, dance, drama, poetry, sports, exercise, word games, cooking, gardening, table games, competitive activities, and more. Most of these individuals have one or two areas that they are particularly interested in and good at, but then have to learn the rules, benefits, strategies, methodologies, and techniques, for each activity provided. Not everyone can sing, but all activity professionals have to be able to lead a music group or a sing-along. Not everyone can cook or bake so they often depend on the residents' guidance and experience. In addition, a great deal of effort and time if often put into planning and preparing a variety of recreational activities by means of communication tools, phone calls, lists, verbal reminders, etc.

Next, activity professionals have to be aware of a variety of diagnosis', illnesses, precautions, contraindications, diets, symptoms, etc. so that the programming can be adapted to meet the clinical needs of each resident. Activity professionals are responsible for assessing, care planning, monitoring and evaluating the residents' responses and involvement in activity programs; therefore they must have quality writing skills.

Activity professionals also play an important role in enhancing the environment through the use of plants, animals, seasonal/holiday decorations, bulletin boards, calendars, personalization of resident rooms, and more. It is a busy day for an activity/recreation professional, but one that is rewarding and gratifying, for the residents are truly appreciative of the activity programs and their established relationship with the activity professionals.

"A new position of responsibility will usually show a man to be a far stronger creature than was supposed."
William James

When an activity assistant or recreation therapist decides to take the next step and become a recreation director, they are faced with many new challenges, responsibilities, and obligations. The role of the recreation director in long term care is one that is multi-faceted and ever-changing. Less time is spent in the implementation aspect of programming and more time on the assessment, planning and evaluation phases. The greatest challenge is being able to balance the responsibilities of being a manager and the intrinsic desire to be with the residents.

Often times, like their interdisciplinary peers, recreation directors are knowledgeable about being a provider of their particular area of service, but less familiar with the responsibilities and skills needed to be an effective manager. The recreation director has to learn how to manage, lead, motivate, empower, train, supervise, recognize, schedule, evaluate, and discipline their employees. The process of performing an employee performance appraisal, providing constructive criticism, meeting with a union representative, or even having to deny a vacation request, is often very difficult for the new manager. Dealing with varying degrees of education, certification, work ethics, skills, and knowledge, as well as conflict resolution, cultural diversity, problem solving, and time management, also serve as obstacles the recreation director must overcome on a daily basis. The new manager must utilize the skills and knowledge they have learned previously, and become a teacher and mentor to the recreation staff, as well as the facility staff

The recreation director should demonstrate effective communication and writing skills. Policies and procedures have to be written in accordance with regulatory agencies, corporate standards, standards of practice, and any other guidelines. Memos, emails, letters, training materials, press releases, reports, medical documentation, etc. should be written clearly, and professionally. Recreation directors also create flyers, posters, and newsletter, as a method of communication. Computer efficiency is a plus!

The recreation director must be an active participant in a variety of scheduled and non-scheduled meetings including: daily morning meetings, monthly department- head meetings, quality assurance meetings, care plan meetings, and various committee meetings such as the fall committee, restraint committee, and so on. Recreation directors are usually not very comfortable spending so much time in meetings because they would prefer to be interacting with the residents. Unfortunately, the reality is that since activities are fundamental to the quality of life and care of the residents, then a representative of the department must be present. The clever recreation director offers the recreation assistants the opportunity to attend care plan conferences, or become members of various committees. This is beneficial for many reasons. First of all, the activity assistants are the ones who know the recreational status of the residents for their unit better than any one else, and their information is instrumental to the care planning process. Secondly, involving the activity assistants in meetings and committees affords them empowerment and learning opportunities. However, there are certain meetings that only the recreation director should attend, such as the department head meeting. Lastly, delegating recreation personnel to attend various meetings, give the recreation director an opportunity to facilitate groups, provide one to one interventions, or catch up on required office time.

Most recreation directors in long term care are also responsible for managing the Volunteer Program. Volunteers are a much needed resource and offer a wide variety of services including: group facilitation, one to one visits, administrative work, fundraising, religious/spiritual support, transporting residents to/from activities, feeding and meal distribution, mail delivery, and special projects. Volunteers require the same orientation, training, supervision, recognition, motivation and support that the Recreation personnel require. Much time is also spent on recruiting volunteers, matching their needs and schedules with the needs and interests of the residents, and providing endless encouragement and appreciation. In addition, creating partnerships with community groups is also an important task of the recreation director. Developing relationships with schools, colleges, universities, churches, clubs, synagogues, and other community program, enhances the activity program even further. Activity professionals are highly acclaimed for their resourcefulness!

Another task usually assigned to the recreation director is that of the Resident Council. A Resident Council is a group of long-term care residents that meet on a regular basis to review services provided by the facility. Resident Council members are encouraged to be as independent as possible, but often request assistance from the facility. The recreation director assists in the formation, implementation, and communication aspects of the meeting. Minutes are taken, typed in a particular format, and distributed to the appropriate department heads for review, who then report back to the council on their plans of correction. In turn, the recreation director becomes a strong advocate for the residents at the monthly meeting and on a daily basis. A tremendous amount of time and effort goes into advocating for the residents, therefore, it is recommended that recreation directors keep a log of resident concerns and actions taken to assist with those concerns.

Recreation directors must posses the ability to multi-task and plan ahead. Each month a calendar of events is created which includes a variety of activities that should be designed in accordance with the residents' care plan, population analysis, and individual interests. A variety of Quality Assurance survey tools and audits may be utilized to collect data to effectively formulate the activity calendar. Many special events requires months of planning and preparation i.e. the ordering of food, scheduling of entertainment, purchasing necessary supplies, equipment, and decorations, assigning tasks, communicating with other disciplines, notifying residents, family, and staff, and, so on. It is amazing how much time and effort goes into planning a one hour event! Recreation directors also lend a hand in developing, and planning daily activities such as cooking programs, arts and crafts, theme days, discussion groups, educational programs and other activities.

Activity professionals are a great resource for the other disciplines as well. Recreation and activity interventions should be found on most resident care plans. Some care plans of special importance include: behavior concerns, pain management, falls, restraints, nutrition, psychosocial, mood, cognitive loss, communication, ADL's, and palliative care. These interventions provide support to many departments such as nursing, social services, food and nutrition, and rehabilitation services. The marketing director may also take advantage of the public relations opportunities of specialized dementia programs, horticultural therapy, music therapy, resident council, intergenerational programs, special events, pet therapy, etc. Finally, recreation directors often coordinate programs with other disciplines, assist in writing grants and press releases, develop marketing tools, and assist in planning, and implementing employee appreciation celebrations.

Recreation directors often have difficulty in balancing their time between residents, managerial duties, and personal life. To be an effective manager, recreation directors must be able to balance all three. Most recreation directors work more than eight hours a day, do not take breaks, lunch, days off, and even bring projects home with them. They feel a sense of guilt for not being able to spend more time with the residents, therefore, overcompensate by working additional hours (without overtime!). Recreation directors need to know it is alright to say "no" sometimes, take personal time, and designate "office time". They will be a better manager for it.

It is apparent that recreation directors, activity professionals, and recreation therapists truly are multi-faceted, talented individuals whose contribution to long term care and the residents is invaluable. The recreation director is the leader of the department that is often referred to as "the heartbeat of the facility". Please take a moment to thank the facility's recreation director and the entire department for their dedication, resourcefulness, and interdisciplinary support. The recreation director truly is the most comprehensive manager in long term care.

Gifts For Patients in the Hospital

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

Patients in the hospital need many things that will help them get through their stay. Besides companionship, compassion, love and support, family and friends can also give gifts that will improve the patients hospital stay. Here are some gift ideas you can give to anyone who is admitted in the hospital.

Personal Clothing: Sometimes the hospital gowns given to patients in the hospital are just not adequate enough. So as a gift to your loved ones give them a clothes that they can wear that will keep them covered and warm. If that is not allowed then get some blankets and pillow cases for their bed as a reminder of home.

Reading & Writing Material: Being in the hospital can be really boring. So to keep the patient mentally busy get them some books to read and a journal to write in. That way not only will they be able to positively occupy their time they can also document their experience as well.

Music: Music is honey to the soul. So as a gift give your loved ones in the hospital some tunes to listen to. This will lift their spirits and give them the hope they need to recover quickly. Nowadays there are several ways to package music. You can give them a simple cd, cassette or download some music into an mp3 player.

Games & Toys: The hospital can be a very stuffy and stiff place especially if you are admitted there as a patient. So to lighten up the environment how about getting games and toys for a gift. Games make pretty inexpensive gifts [http://www.giftgrease.com/frugal_gift_shopping.html] so you can get a lot of them without paying too much. Some ideas would be electronic games, word puzzles, board games, stuffed animals etc.

Food: Nothing is better and more refreshing to a patient in the hospital than a hot, home-cooked meal. The food in the hospital is not always the best so freshly baked cookies or brownies would be a much appreciated gift by anyone recovering.

How Are Video Games Made - The Process From Start to Finish

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

It's time to answer that oh-so important question that's been burning in the back of your mind: "how are video games made?" Here is a very basic run down of how video games are made.

1. Core Team

A group of people whom come up with the general concept of the game. Numerous meetings will occur in which the group brainstorms about the game; figuring out not only how it will look, but also how it will work. The core team is in charge of the production schedule as well, which describes the tasks each person is assigned and when they most do them.

2. Game Breakdown

Every detail, task, job, and deadline about the video game is broken down into components and then added to a bulletin board. This board acts as the nerve center throughout the games production.

3. Artistic Concept

Artists sketch out the games characters & backgrounds with a very basic level of detail. These sketches are what the graphics artists use to create the characters and backgrounds in 3D on the computer.

4. Development Team

This team uses the latest in computer animation technology to bring life to all of the game's elements; adding colors, textures, shading, and even movement. This team uses the 3d characters and backgrounds created by the graphics team.

5. Programming & Engineering

This is the bread & butter of the game development stage; because without this part, there would be no game. Suffice it to say, the programmers & engineers make the game work. Their coding is what holds the game together and allows the player to actually play the game.

6. Testing

This is the final and most crucial part of the development process. This phase is to see if everything is working properly and as it should be. Testers will check for bugs and glitches and try to find potential problems.

The game testers won't merely be playing the game and seeing if problems will find them -- it's the other way around, as THEY will be the ones searching for the problems. The testers will do everything and anything possible in the game to ensure there is no abnormal situations or circumstances; walking through walls, disappearing, enemy AI problems, cinematic errors, you name it. If the testers miss ANYTHING, it could mean disastrous consequences -- in the form of profit loss -- for the company releasing the game.

10 Hand Care Tips

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

Many of us talk with our hands, and your hands have a lot to say about the state of your health. Your hands do so much that they really need some TLC, and it makes sense to take good care of them. Here are some tips to keep your hands looking young and beautiful.

1. Use sunscreen

You probably know that dermatologists and other experts recommend wearing sunscreen on your face every day. But you may not have thought about sunscreen on your hands. Hands can develop "liver spots" or age spots, brownish areas that are actually sun damage. Apply sunscreen to your hands as you would moisturizing lotion, and it will become second nature to keep your hands protected from the sun.

2. Moisturize

At least three times a day, moisturize your hands. Because of all the things your hands get into - especially soap and water - they tend to dry out quickly, particularly in winter.

3. Take care of your nails

Rather than putting acrylic nails over unhealthy natural ones, take a look at some of the simple things you can do to improve the health and look of your fingernails. First, file them into a neat oval after trimming. Second, when you moisturize your hands be sure to work some in around each nail.

4. Wear gloves when gardening and washing dishes

Soap and water can strip your hands of healthful natural oils. Wearing gloves keeps hands out of cleaning chemicals and soap. When gardening, gloves protect your hands from the sun and from injuries such as briar scratches and contact dermatitis from handling weeds.

5. Palm massage

Simply rub one palm over the back of the opposite hand in a circular motion. The massage motion increases circulation, which helps warm up your hands.

6. Finger massage

Soothing for arthritis, a finger massage with a little warm coconut oil is very healthful. Gently pull each finger in a "milking" motion and finish by moving each finger joint gently to the side. This relaxes and loosens the joints and gives your hands better flexibility and circulation.

7. Exfoliate

Did you ever think to exfoliate your hands? Gently rub damp hands with salt or sugar, then rinse. The grainy texture of the salt helps scrape away old skin cells, and, once again, it improves circulation.

8. Manicure

A professional manicure is a real treat, but be sure that the emphasis is on nail health and not covering up weak nails with acrylic ones. Go for a manicure that nourishes your existing nails and pampers your hands.

9. Feed your nails with good nutrition

Deficiencies in the B-complex vitamins can cause ridged nail beds, and a lack of calcium can result in brittle, dry nails that chip and flake easily. Be sure to eat foods high in these vitamins or take supplements to improve the look of your nails.

10. Adjust your computer

The position of your computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse can have a profound effect on your hands. Repetitive motions such as typing and mouse-clicking can result in tired, sore hands or even inflammation such as carpal-tunnel syndrome. Be sure your mouse is comfortable and easily reached, and that your keyboard is positioned at a comfortable level.

How I Met God - How to Meet God - My Personal Encounter With the Almighty

HOW TO DO 3D ANIMATION :

Have you ever met God and felt his presence in your life? By His grace, I have. I want to share with you my experience I had when I met God, knew how much He loves me and felt His power that surpasses reasoning - In short this is My testimony that God not only exists... but really lives and He loves and cares about each one of us.ed

Turning the pages back...

As always, let's start with some history... Are we going to talk about what happened in 1948?? Nope... We are going to talk about what happened in and after 1984... I was born!!! ... Nothing really happen much, except that I started with my small... very little life.

I was born into a family with quite a bit of problems. To be precise- A hell lot of problems. Facing them, crying over them and learning from them, I slowly grew up. Though I was born in a Hindu family, I never used to go to temples except when someone really forces me to. Since my dad has always been an atheist, I was never brought up in a religious background. I grew up totally free from all belief systems and rituals. Hence you can say that I was also a 'little atheist' all through my childhood. I continued to be so, until God gave me the first chance to feel Him.

Rough roads...

The darkest four years in my life opened wide in front of me when I stepped into my teenage. (Since, our topic is not related much to that, I prefer not to discuss any details). I had to go through very tough times in my family. The situation deprived me of love and care, added turbulence, tension and uncertainty in my little life. In my immature age, my family circumstances demanded seriousness and maturity out of me in an age when I was to play, enjoy, learn and grow. I remember days when I used to cry in my school-classes thinking about my cursed days, while friends who belong to my age would merrily roam around. I saw nothing but darkness in front of me.

It was the time when I came to know about Jesus and His love. My grandmother has been a believer, who got saved by Jesus, from a suicide decades back. She taught me the story of the life of Jesus and the gospel. In the midst of all my pain and suffering, though I understood very little of the real meaning of the gospel, I held it close to my heart. During the darkest nights and the most disturbing emotional storms, the hope in a living God helped me to move forward. Years passed by and I reached my mid-teens. My family circumstances started to improve slowly...

Crazy Youth

I started to think a lot during these days... About the meaning of life... my existence... and so on. I trusted in my logic and rational thinking above anything and it was the starting point when I ignored my God who carried me in His arms, through all my tough times. I started rationalizing everything - love, sex, marriage and started debating with others on various topics... And I was proud in my false belief that what I believed was always true. I started to read books of Osho and the like... and my greatest happiness turned out to be, the moment when I debate with my grandma and defeat her and assert that God doesn't exist. She found herself speechless in front of my rational thoughts and my lengthy circus with words. I depended on myself, my knowledge and my talents and totally denied the power above.

Sweet Sweet Love

I was good at studies and joined for my Bachelor's in Engineering, with lots of dreams about my life, career and all. Due to my logical thinking I always rejected love and considered it only as a need for life's existence. I liked to think about death and used to think about humans being as nothing but flesh and bones, however beautiful they seem outside. Due to this mentality I never wanted to be in love. But... since God's ways were much ahead and above mine, I also fell in love - madly in love. I felt that she was the most beautiful, the most wonderful, the most loving and caring human being on the planet. We were in love for almost three years and in that time we weaved lots of dreams and built sky scraping castles in our imagination. She was all I loved, cared and trusted. I saw all the love I missed from my family in her. In short, she meant a world to me. Whoever might abandon me in my life, I was damn sure that this person will never forsake me. There were times when I boasted in front of my friends that if ever we both are alive, we would definitely marry and live happily. God should have been smiling then. In short, I made the biggest mistake... I valued the gift, but not the giver - the Almighty.

Learning bitter lessons of life

And one day, it happened. She chose her own way and walked away... Without a word, a letter or a gaze with concern or tears of pain. That was the heaviest blow I ever faced in my life. I felt like my world was collapsing and the ground beneath my feet was slipping away. When I watched the one, whom I trusted more than myself, walking away so easily with her own life and dreams, I even thought about putting an end to my life. It was a time when I was left with no faith or trust in anything. The one that meant a world to me was a huge void now. I had no idea what to do. My endless regrets, sorry and requests for another chance remained unheard.

Everything with a purpose

But I never knew that it was the way God wanted me to search for him from the depth of my heart. I started sharing my pain with my grandma. She again told me about Jesus and faith. I was too stubborn to look back to God's love. So I denied and tried to solve everything myself. I kept on demanding for proof for the existence of God. Months passed by. I was fuming like a furnace but I couldn't shed a single tear - didn't know why. One day I felt that I should go and meet my grandma and I went to her. I asked her to sing a song - a Christian song that I used to sing when I was previously in faith. That song says about a person leaving God and finally returning back searching for Him. As I started listening to that song, tears started to slowly roll down my cheeks... Yes I was ventilating the tears that I was not able to shed during all these painful days.

Ripples in faith

Next week, I started attending a church in my locality. Since I was awaiting the joining date for my job, I had enough time to spend in God's presence. Though I would go to church, pray and listen to sermons, I knew that I was incomplete in faith. I was always doubtful. Every day I would talk to the pastor for hours after the session and clear doubts... After the worship, I had seen people coming to the pastor and pastor placing his hands on their head and them fainting down as if they got electrified. Though my friends told me that it was due to the power of the Holy Spirit, I always laughed at the back of my mind. I never got convinced that God really exists. My belief used to waver uncontrollably. And I was very unhappy about that fact. It went on for another month or so.

Miraculous Encounter

One day my pastor asked me to attend a worship that was being lead by a well known spiritual leader - Mr. Noble Thomas. I went there in the morning by around 9.00 along with my grandma. It was a quite big hall with more than a thousand people present for worship. It started with songs followed by my pastor's service. While he was preaching, at one point of time, I felt a huge power surging through my body. It started as a slight tingling feeling, but gradually increased into a trance state. I was able to hear and see all that went around me, but I was not in total control. The experience was frightening to me and I started sweating profusely. It lasted for a few minutes. Once I came back from that state, I was scared and confused about what has just happened to me. Nothing has ever happened in my life as strange as that. Initially I doubted whether this is what they call as 'anointing by the holy spirit'. But I was doubtful about that because I was not at all in good faith, and hence how could God possibly anoint me. A thousand questions went through my mind.

Once the service got over, I went to my pastor and shared my experience with him. He said that it might be a small touch from the God. It was around 11.00 by then. Bro. Noble Thomas' session was just about to start. Though I had planned to return to home before noon, I changed my decision and continued attending the session. Bro. Noble Thomas gave a marvelous sermon and it was concentrated around dedicating oneself to God, serving Him and about spiritual warfare. It brought light into various questions I had in my mind concerning my faith. Somewhere in between the sermon, Bro. Noble Thomas mentioned that he came there that day, not for giving healing or deliverance, but to bring forth leaders who has already been chosen by the almighty. And he mentioned that those people would have already received the signs of that. This statement only increased anxiety and confusion in my heart.

Time passed by and we reached the end of the service. In the end, Bro. Noble Thomas would bless everyone who attended the worship, by placing his hands on their heads. When I watched, I saw that he prophesized about many, and many of them fell down out of anointing when he placed his hands on their head. My heart was still doubtful, but I felt a slight amount of fear, since I already had a frightening experience in the morning. So I went to the rear end of the queue. In the mean-time I saw that Brother placed his hands on a woman and prophesized all that happened in her life and I got amazed because, it seemed just like my grandma's life story. So I tried my best to see who the person was, and I saw that it was none other than her. Initially I felt that it was all miraculous, but slowly my rational mind started asking me a thousand logical questions, and I even doubted that it was a kind of arrangement between them.

Slowly the queue was moving and so was I. When I saw that there were just a bunch of people ahead of me in the queue, I started getting slightly tensed. I saw many people falling down and being supported by the volunteers standing there. I made a firm decision in my mind that I would never faint or fall. I repeatedly kept on saying in my mind that these people are having some hysterical response, due to their blind faith and stupidity. I was sure I wouldn't feel anything if he places his hands on me.

Finally I turned up in front of him. As it was customary, I closed my eyes and he placed his thumb and index finger on the two sides of my head. Initially all I could see was darkness, obviously because my eyes were closed. Suddenly I could see two oblique lights in the two ends of my eyes, or may be in my head. And they started alternating very fast and the heavy surge of power started flowing through my head. This time it was a hundred times more powerful than before. I could hear everything that went around me, but I was not in control. I couldn't even throw away his hands. All I could do was going through it and submit to the power of the spirit. I heard brother prophesying about my mission in life... My God's purpose with my little life. In this whole time while he was prophesying, my head was exploding with the power I cannot describe exactly in words. Then he immediately took his hands off my head and I could feel that I was totally powerless even to support my own body. My legs and my whole body got drained and I fell into the arms of the volunteers. I felt as if I was powered from an outlet and it got suddenly disconnected.

It didn't end there. I could hear brother saying 'Not enough' and he motioned them to bring me forward. I was struggling hard to push myself back while they literally overpowered me and Brother placed his hands once again on my head. The explosions were getting stronger and I was getting more receptive to the power of the spirit. This happened thrice and then he placed his hands on my chest and said 'Receive the holy spirit'. The moment his hands touched my chest, I could feel the power of the almighty spreading from the center of my chest to every cell in my body. I remember that I was crying out because the feeling was something I couldn't stand - a feeling which you can only understand if you experience it. God was giving me the proof I always asked for, and that too in plenty, so that I would never question it again.

Then he touched my hands and prophesized about the works I have to do with them, and the same power flow happened through my hands too. In the end, I was deprived of energy to hold myself up and the volunteers carried me away and gave me a chair to sit down. They gave me water to drink. My whole body was tingling with a static current and it persisted all over my body. The moment I sat down I started to cry out loud... amidst all these people... not considering anything else... just like a kid. I have never been so regretful in my life. I was realizing how big an idiot I had been this long by declaring that God doesn't exist. He reached out to me from his divinity to let me know not only that he does exist, but he truly loves and cares for me.

A new dimension to life

After this incident in my life, my life itself has changed a great deal... I got baptized and received Jesus as my savior and redeemer, with my whole heart. Things that I found myself difficult to control in my life, I started being able to give up with God's grace and infinite power. The wounds that really made me search for Him, He soothed with His love and comfort. Now I don't worry thinking about my mistakes or what I have lost. What I have lost only brought me closer to my God. I realize now what really is precious and what is not... what will last and what won't. My God is all powerful. Those things He didn't want in my life, He removed. And since He's not only my creator, but my protector, my friend and provider, He knows what I need and at what time, much better than anyone else.

Dear friend, I do not know what kind of situation you are in. You may be a happy soul... with a life full of blessings and comforts... or may be in great distress, and yearning for something that you really miss in your life. After reading my story, you might be feeling skeptical and your logical mindset might tell you a thousand things that make you feel that my experiences are nothing but superstitions. I shared these experiences of mine with you not to make you believe that God exists, but to make you start searching for Him. I believed from my true touching experience. You start believing from your personal encounter with God. All I request you is that you start searching for Him with your whole heart. He is waiting out there eager to get his child back - that I can assure you - because He is love. All it takes is a heart full of desire to know the real truth.

Why waiting for tomorrow?

Everything changes except the Almighty. Period. No relation, nothing in this world or that belongs to this world, survives the limits of time and space. I know that this uncertainty makes us all uncomfortable, but that is the truth. Search for the unchanging. Search for the everlasting. All you have to do is take a single step with all your heart... and God will be ready to run even a hundred miles towards you and call you - 'My child.'

I'm so happy that I could share this with you. If you have any queries, please feel free to ask me. I will be more than happy to help you get back to God. If you are a person who had an encounter with God, and if you would like to share your experience with the rest of the world, kindly do let me know. You, having landed on this page and having read till here instead of browsing away is not merely an accident. Can you listen for a moment? Don't you hear Him calling? 'My Child!'
